Dr. Andreas Filis got his medical diploma from Athens Medical School in 2004 and moved to Germany for his specialty at the Department of Neurosurgery at Georg-August University of Gottingen.
During his medical career, he worked on countless cases of neurology and neuro-oncology in Greece, Germany and United States. He has also done extensive research on numerous neurological cases and presentations and also, contributed on many scientific publications.
He speaks Greek, English and German fluently and since May 2023, he joined our team of medical specialists and therapists at AIMIS Clinics, and has ever since been a valuable asset.

RESEARCH
2004 – 2006 Neuroendocrine Dysfunction Following a Traumatic Brain Injury
- In 82 patients admitted for TBI the cortico-, thyreo-, gonado-somatotropic as well as the posterior pituitary function were tested in days 0,3, and 7 after trauma. In some patients, there was also a dynamic pituitary test available. Our study showed that after TBI the hypopituitarism prevalence can be as high as 80%, and the persistent endocrine insufficiency is much less.
2004 – 2009 The Trigeminocardiac Reflex in Pituitary Surgery
- In 40 patients who underwent transsphenoidal pituitary surgery the occurrence of the trigeminocardiac reflex was monitored intraoperatively. In 3 patients we had evidence of the reflex intraoperatively. Biomarkers and demographic data were used to identify predisposing factors for the occurrence of the reflex. In this study cerebral ischemia and possible correlation with the reflex (ischemic preconditioning) is discussed.
