Thoracic Surgeon, Dr Emmanouil Georgiannakis was the first Greek to graduate as an Advanced Fellow in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Techniques (robotic and thoracoscopic techniques) from Jiatong University, Shanghai Chest Hospital. Since then, he has specialized in Heart and Thoracic Surgery and later obtained the title of Console Surgeon for the daVinci Robotic System at the Research Institute against Digestive Cancer (IRCAD) in Strasburg, France. Himself and the AIMIS Robotics team were the first to perform a robotic thymectomy and robotic lung lobectomy in Cyprus. Dr Georgiannakis has performed a plethora of thoracoscopic surgeries (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery - VATS) and robotic surgeries (robot-assisted thoracic surgery - RATS), and continues to strongly promote minimally invasive techniques both in Greece and abroad.

In 2018, Dr Georgiannakis joined us at AIMIS Robotics as the Head of the Robotic Thoracic Surgery Department, and has ever since been a valuable asset in our dream team of Robotic Surgeons

09/2018: Performed the first Robotic Thymectomy and the first Robotic Lung Lobectomy in Cyprus with AIMIS Robotics

02/2018: Performed the first Robotic Lung Lobectomy in Greece and throughout Southeast Europe (SEERS), fully recognised by the American company Intuitive Surgical through the Greek representative, Sofmedica.

11/2017: Special training for “Console Surgeon for the Da Vinci Robotic System” at the Research Institute against Digestive Cancer (IRCAD), Strasburg, France

10/2017: Organizer and Director of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Department of Metropolitan Hospital
