Understanding the problem
Understanding the problem
A spinal cord injury is damage to any part of the spinal cord or nerves at the end of the spinal canal that often causes permanent changes in strength, sensation and other body functions below the site of the injury, whether or not the spinal cord is severed.
As a result, patients with severe neurologic deficits may be candidates for stem cell transplantation.

Signs and Symptoms
Signs and Symptoms

Loss of sensation
Loss of autonomic function in parts of the body served by the spinal cord below the level of the injury.
Technologies used
Autologous Stem Cells
Most treatments focus on palliative or rehabilitative, rather than restorative care. Emerging research however, proves that Stem Cell treatment shows signs of restoration of previously considered irreversible damage.
Stem Cell Treatment may be used for:
- Spinal Cord Injuries
- Strokes
- Sciatic & Pinched Nerve – Injury
- Degenerative Disc Disease
How it works
We carefully review your medical history, current neurological exam and any recent imaging studies. The patient selection process is rigorous and regrettably not all patients will pass our strict screening process. This is to ensure that no false hope is given and that only the highest scientific criteria will be followed.
Once approved for stem cell transplantation and you go ahead with the surgery, we use an FDA patented technique of harvesting bone marrow from the ilium (hip bone) and processed using a separation protocol and technique, in order to concentrate Progenitor Cells – the-so-called Stem Cells (e.g., mesenchymal stem cells), derived from bone marrow. Once the site of injury is localized, these Stem Cells are injected into the spinal cord, at the site of injury, as well as above and below it.

The result:
- Reduce pain symptoms
- Improve neuropathic pain
- Restore normal anatomy and function to the affected areas that are treated
- Diminish inflammation and contribute to tissue remodeling
- Improve spinal cord function
Given AIMIS Spine’s tremendous commitment to improving the science of spinal cord injury repair, all patients enrolled in the stem cell transplantation program must agree to a biannual neurological exam by appropriate medical personnel. Appropriate physical and occupational therapy must also be completed by the treated patient for at least one year. There must be a commitment from the patient prior to enrolling in the transplantation program.
